Fellers is the name we have given to the new Men’s Group covering the male members of St George’s and St Matthews churches.
The Group has been set up by Ian Mole, Bill Thornton, Norman Hooper and Jonathan Holbrook, who form the initial core team overseeing the group’s activities, but we are on the lookout for one or two more Fellers to join the core team. The aim of Fellers is to help and encourage men to grow in Christian faith through teaching and fellowship, and thereby achieve their God given potential. There are three strands we aim to use to do this: -
A) Monthly teaching on the second Monday of each month, 8pm in the lounge at St George's. The material we will initially be using for the first eight months will be “Wild at Heart – Discovering the Secret of a Man’s Soul”.
B) Monthly/Bi-monthly social events, which we hope will provide opportunities for fun and fellowship. So far we have had an inaugural Early Starter Breakfast, an evening of ten pin bowling and a curry and lager night. Other future ideas include go-karting, walking trips, visiting places of interest, golf, wine tasting, cycling, a ladies night, tea preparation and tasting, bowls, cinema/theatre visits, badminton, pub games evening, and at some point another breakfast.
C) We also want to go out into the community and involve ourselves in projects, which will give us the opportunity to be the face of the Church in the community! More about this to follow.
